Court marriage is a legal process of getting married in India. It is a simple process and requires minimal paperwork. In Delhi, the procedure for court marriage is regulated by the Special Marriage Act, of 1954.
The first step in the court marriage process is to apply for a marriage notice. This notice is to be submitted to the Marriage Officer of the district in which either of the parties to the marriage resides. The notice must contain the full name, age, address, and other details of both parties. It must also contain the date, time, and place of the proposed marriage.
Once the notice is submitted, it is displayed at the Marriage Officer’s office for 30 days. During this period, any objections to the marriage can be raised. If no objections are raised, the Marriage Officer will issue a marriage certificate.
The next step is to apply for a marriage registration certificate. This certificate is issued by the Marriage Officer after the marriage ceremony is conducted.
